Turn our drop waisted pattern, Molly, into a new look! You will simply adjust the armholes and omit the sleeves in a few simple steps explained below. The featured sample is a light handkerchief linen with a touch of clooney lace down the center for an extra touch. This is a great look for a hot summer day!
Supplies
Children’s Corner Molly pattern
Clooney Lace 2” wide – 18mo-6 (1/2 yd) 7-14 (5/8 yd)
Tracing paper
Cutting Instructions
1. To adjust the armhole on the front and back bodice for a sleeveless dress, refer to the chart below to raise the armhole and bring in the shoulder seam. Draw a dot making the shoulder seam shorter and raising the armhole.

2. Using a French curve, if you have one, draw the curve connecting these dots. If you do not have a French curve, you can simply follow the shape of the pattern armhole to connect the dots.
Construction
View A - Zipper Closure
1. After stitching around the neckline in step 4, sew each armhole with right sides together. Clip seam allowances. Continue to “understitching the neckline.” Turn right side out by pulling each side of the back bodice through the shoulder seams and press.
2. Continue the instructions skipping sleeve construction steps.
View B – Button closure
1. After stitching around the neckline in step 16, sew each armhole with right sides together. Clip seam allowances. Turn right side out by pulling each side of the back bodice through the shoulder seams and press. You will still be able to stitch the remainder of the center back seam with right sides together as instructed.
2. Continue the instructions skipping sleeve construction steps.
