Mia is a great pattern to consider to create your special heirloom garment. The high yoke provides a sweet amount of lace piecing and the ruffle is a great accent for edging. Whether you create with antique lace or purchase new, we hope this will give you some guidance and inspiration to get started. If you are looking to hone your heirloom skills, check out Learn to Sew: 4 Thimble video lesson.
This lovely Heirloom pictured is made of all antique laces. Actually, these laces can still be found at antique malls and estate sales. Most of the pieces needed for yokes and sleeves are short and you can create any yoke squares you choose. Sew together your laces in a block large enough to cut your yokes from. There are plenty of current lace families to choose from in multiple widths.
Check our current lace selection online or go on a lace hunt! The following chart gives you estimated yardages for two size ranges. Enjoy your creativity!
