Learn to Sew: Wish List Supplies

These are sewing supplies we love and think are a great addition to your basic supplies. These have more specific uses but we find very helpful in sewing children's clothing. Shop full collection here.

24" ruler — acrylic ruler allows you to see through as you cut fabric along bias, or other straight edges.
Awl — a tool that helps with detailed work such as shaping edges, feeding fabric into sewing machine or untying threads.
Best Press light spray starch — scent-free spray starch. There’s no flaking, clogging, or white residue on dark fabrics.
Cutting Mat — a rectangular piece of durable material, such as vinyl or rubber, used as a measurement tool and a surface for cutting with a rotary cutter.
Nana’s Heirloom Soak — a product to clean fine heirloom garments. Removes age spots, stains, and yellowing and doesn’t contain bleach.
Rotary cutter — is typically used in quilting and goes along with a rotary mat. You can cut multiple layers of fabric materials all at the same time. It is also very useful to use with a straight edge when cutting bias and smaller straight pieces.
Scissors — Embroidery have thin, sharp tip that is recommended for an accurate and safe cutting of threads at the back a project. They are generally small in size, and its length ranges between 3-6 inches long.
Dressmaker shears have a long blade making them ideal for cutting out fabric. The most useful length is 7" — 8".
Tailor’s scissors are generally 5" in length and are a great everyday scissor.
Snap Setter and Snaps — install grippers beautifully each time .
Stuff-It — helps create crisp collars and edges. Rounded tip protects fabric from snags or tears during stuffing.
Solvy — increases stitch support, and tears away so it is not visible on your final product.
Tensister’s Piping Tool — piping ruler with grooves for four different seam allowances that helps you trim your piping.
